Make a Christmas wishlist everyone can actually use
Christmas is the one occasion where the same present really does turn up twice. A shared list fixes that without spoiling the surprise for you.
One list, every shop
Paste a link from any online shop and the title, photo and price come across automatically. Anything you cannot link to — a bottle of wine you trust someone to choose, an afternoon out, a voucher for the restaurant down the road — you simply write down instead.
Mark one or two things as a top wish so the people who ask "what do you actually want?" get a straight answer.
Family reserves privately
When somebody claims a gift, everyone else visiting the page sees that it is taken and who is bringing it. You never do. Your own page hides every reservation, so opening your list to add something in December cannot spoil what is already under the tree.
Nobody needs an account to reserve. They open the link, type a first name, and that is the whole flow — which matters when the list has to work for grandparents.
Keep it year after year
Your profile stays at the same address, so the link you send this year is the link people already have. Start a fresh Christmas list each December and leave your birthday list standing all year.
Is it free?
Yes. Creating a page, adding wishes and sharing the link are all free, and there is nothing for your friends to pay or install.
Do my family need to sign up to reserve a gift?
No. Anyone with the link can reserve a gift by entering a first name or nickname. Only the person who owns the list needs an account.
Will I see who reserved what?
No, and that is deliberate. Your own view of your list hides every reservation. You can see how many gifts are taken, never which ones or by whom.
Can I add something that is not sold online?
Yes. Type it in plain words instead of pasting a link. "A nice bottle of Rioja" or "dinner at my favourite restaurant" work exactly like linked items.
Can I change the list after I have shared it?
Yes. The link stays the same, so you can add or remove gifts at any point and everybody sees the current list.
